Life doesn’t become easier. You simply become someone who knows how to carry it.
After wandering for so long, I realized something I wish someone had told me years ago.
Life isn’t hard.
Life isn’t complicated.
Most of the time, we’re the ones making it that way.
We love to blame our parents, our exes, bad luck, the economy, the weather, Mercury retrograde—literally anything that allows us to avoid the uncomfortable truth:
We are responsible for the life we’re living.
Not for everything that happens to us.
But for what we decide to do after it happens.
When I was little, I read a quote that completely changed the way I saw the world:
“True love isn’t easy. Easy love isn’t true.”
Years later, I realized it had nothing to do with love.
It was about everything worth having.
A meaningful career.
A healthy relationship.
Real friendships.
Peace of mind.
None of them come easy.
And maybe they’re not supposed to.
Life has an incredible talent for knocking you down at the exact moment you think you’ve finally figured everything out.
Sometimes it’ll do it twice.
Just to make sure you actually learned the lesson.
I’ve had moments when I genuinely believed everything was over.
Relationships ended.
Dreams fell apart.
Plans disappeared overnight.
At the time, every single one of those moments felt like the end of the world.
Looking back…
They were all beginnings disguised as disasters.
That’s the funny thing about perspective.
You only recognize the lesson after you’ve survived it.
For years, every time something went wrong, I focused on the wrong question.
“Why is this happening to me?”
It’s such a useless question.
It changes nothing.
One day, without even realizing it, I replaced it with another one.
“Alright… now what?”
That tiny shift changed everything.
Because the moment you start looking for a solution, your brain no longer has enough space to create tragedies.
Problem.
Solution.
Next.
Simple.
People often ask me why I seem so calm nowadays.
The truth?
I’m not calmer because life became easier.
I’m calmer because I stopped negotiating with reality.
Bad things happen.
People disappoint you.
Plans fail.
Flights get cancelled.
Jobs don’t work out.
He texts his ex.
Your favorite coffee shop closes.
Life moves on anyway.
So should you.
Ironically, the more responsibility I took for my own life, the freer I became.
Because if I’m responsible…
That also means I have the power to change it.
And that’s a beautiful realization.
Does that mean I never overthink anymore?
Please.
I’m still me.
Give me twenty minutes and my brain can turn someone replying with “Okay.” into the beginning of a psychological thriller.
The difference is that nowadays I laugh before I believe my own thoughts.
Growth doesn’t mean becoming someone else.
It means learning not to take every thought so seriously.
Life can be incredibly heavy if you insist on carrying yesterday into tomorrow.
Or…
It can become surprisingly beautiful the day you decide that your happiness is your responsibility.
Not your partner’s.
Not your parents’.
Not your boss’s.
Yours.
One decision at a time.
One morning at a time.
One problem…
One solution.
Eventually, you’ll wake up and realize something almost unbelievable.
The life you spent years chasing…
Was quietly built by all the tiny decisions you made when nobody was watching.
And you’ll smile.
Not because life became perfect.
But because you finally understood it never had to be.
The day I stopped asking “Why me?” was the day my life finally started moving forward.
Until next time 🤍
